Tori Spelling opened up about her first “on screen love,” Dustin Diamond, in a heartfelt Instagram post. The Saved By The Bell alum died Monday after a recent cancer diagnosis, according to Diamond’s manager, Roger Paul. He was 44.
Sharing a throwback photo from when she first appeared on Saved By The Bell, the actress wrote, “My 1st onscreen love Dustin Diamond got his Angel wings today.
Before there was David and Donna there was Screech and Violet. Dustin was my first on-screen kiss. He welcomed me with open arms onto the set of Saved By the Bell.”

Tori contined, “As one can imagine being the newbie on a hit show was overwhelming for a 14-year-old girl. He not only showed me around but made sure I was always ok. Such a young gentleman. He was kind, smart, and always making everyone laugh. He was a great scene partner. He was a really good guy. I’m sad after the show we never had much contact aside from occasionally running into each other at events. I’m glad he’s out of pain. He’s an icon to me professionally and personally. RIP Samuel love, your Violet.”
Meanwhile, Dustin first shared the news of his cancer diagnosis just last month. At the time, his manager said his client’s health was “serious” and that Diamond was undergoing further testing at a Florida hospital. He then underwent his first round of chemotherapy a few days alter.
Along with his Saved By The Bell fame, Dustin stirred controversy with his 2009 book “Behind the Bell,” in which he shared backstage stories about shooting the series with some of his accounts being less than flattering to his costars.
He also faced some legal troubles, serving three months in jail for stabbing a man during a 2014 altercation at a bar in Wisconsin.
