Tom Holland has admitted that he is taking a break from social media on the basis of his mental health.

The star of the Spiderman franchise has over 60 million followers on Instagram. So the fact that Tom took such a drastic step in reducing contact time with his fans was certainly not a decision taken lightly.
But now that he has done so, the actor felt compelled to justify his decision which has naturally resulted in a large number of his fan base feeling disappointed.
In a post to his friends on Instagram, Tom said: “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming. “
“I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state.” Despite that shocking news, Tom did accompany that post with some positivity. He expanded on his work with the mental health charity ‘Stem 4.’
This organisation is instrumental in providing mental health support for teenagers. And given that Tom understood that mental health can be impacted at such a young age, by virtue of his own rise in the Hollywood industry as a teenager, he wanted to give back to an organisation that was making such a difference to the next generation.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Stem4 is one of the many charities…I’d like to take a moment to shine a light on their fantastic work.
“Please take the time to watch my video, and should you feel inclined to share it with anyone who it may resonate with – it would be greatly appreciated.”
The fans on social media understood that Tom had to make the correct decision for himself. And in expressing their support, they hoped that his state of mind would improve. One person wrote: “Can’t say I blame him but will miss him he made me laugh.”
