In the world of sports, Agnes Tirop was known for her amazing skills as a track and field star. She was a two-time World Athletics Champion and also competed in the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo. She was found stabbed to death on Tuesday night.
Agnes was only 25 years old and her father was the one who reported her missing. The authorities got involved and now it looks as if her husband is the main suspect.

The police put out a statement as soon as they found her body, “When police got in the house, they found Tirop on the bed and there was a pool of blood on the floor. They saw she had been stabbed in the neck, which led us to believe it was a knife wound, and we believe that is what caused her death.

Her husband is still at large, and preliminary investigations tell us her husband is a suspect because he cannot be found. Police are trying to find her husband so he can explain what happened to Tirop.”
This story is incredibly tragic and the Kenyan runner was well on her way to making a name for herself in the world of track and field. Tirop had been getting close to setting a lot of records for track and field. She broke the world record for 10K women’s road race on September 12. In her most recent road race, she finished at 30:20 while running in Switzerland. She was well known in the Kenyan racing world and Athletics Kenya made a statement about her.
They said, “Athletics Kenya are this afternoon distraught to learn about the untimely death of World 10,000m bronze medalist Agnes Tirop. Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track.”
When Tirop was in the Tokyo Games, she competed and in the 5,000m race and came in fourth place with a time of 14:39:62. This was just three minutes behind the first-place winner, Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands. Tirop had a lot of room for improvement and was well on her way to making all of her Olympic dreams come true.
The world of track and field is truly saddened by Tirop’s death and we do hope that they can locate her husband to get the answers that they need to help solve this case and find justice for her parents.
