TLC ‘Outdaughtered’ Spoilers tell that of all the things that could get a YouTuber hate, a bad makeup palette, a meetup gone wrong, filming footage of a dead body (ahem), but this recent onslaught of online hate directed at none other than Jojo Siwa garnered a lot of unnecessary comments. She didn’t receive it on youtube but rather on TikTok where a bunch of YouTubers also congregate because let’s face it vine 2.0 is a thing now. She was doing a TikTok challenge called #wipeitdown where you start off staring into a mirror, looking one way, and then as you wipe down the mirror your look changes completely and suddenly you have a totally different look. For this look, instead of her signature ponytail with a bow in it, JoJo wore her hair down.
It’s one thing to hate a style if it legit does not become the person, but it’s another thing to give that person the hate simply for trying out a new look. Or saying things like, “I hope she does a full-on Miley Cyrus” when Siwa has come out and said previously that the last thing she wants to do is to go through one of those publicly rebellious phases. Mostly, because her young fanbase is about 10 years old and she is perfectly okay with that. Her parents are fully supportive, her Mom even asking her at one point if she was okay with the public image she was putting forth and so far, Siwa has said that yes, she is okay with it and that if she ever gets tired of the image that she puts forth, she will change it. “If I wake up one day and decide I hate the bow, I’ll take it out,” said Siwa simply.

TLC ‘Outdaughtered’ Spoilers: JoJo Siwa Receives Hate For Letting Down Her Hair – Literally!
So why is it that people who are most likely full-grown adults getting pressed over how a 17-year-old girl decides to wear her hair one day and why does that equate to her crumbling an otherwise wholesome image as a whole? I’m not a consumer of Siwa’s content, I tried to watch her videos long ago and decided that since she tends to ‘talk in cursive’ that her content actually wasn’t for me, I’m also not part of her target demographic, I’m not a 10-year-old girl and I stopped watching Dance Moms a long time ago when it became a point of contention in my household. (Don’t ask.)
I don’t know why people root for girls like her to go off the deep end because usually when someone does pull one of those image-breaking stunts, there’s a lot of pain involved and it follows them for years. Look at Britney Spears, she shaves her head once in 2007 and the breakdown still follows her today, she can’t make one wrong move without someone wondering if she’s had a meltdown again. Why wish that on another girl? It just seems rather unproductive, kids need unproblematic role models and from what I see, JoJo’s accomplishing that. Let her live!!! It’s just a ponytail! Or is it?
