TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ spoilers reveal Deavan’s latest interview on IG live they addressed one particularly troubling rumor. Apparently, there were rumors floating around that due to the open child abuse case that Jihoon could be facing up to ten years in prison.
Deavan was quick to say that that rumor was not true, and that he did have crminal proceedings against him that could result in that but they were not related to the case about Drasilla at all. I mean, from what we know previously, Jihoon got in trouble previously for stealing cell phones and that hampered his own quest for a Visa and that was why Deavan was having to move to South Korea anyway.
TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ Spoilers- So could that be it?
That could very well be it because as it stands, Corporeal Punishment is still viewed by Korean society as “rooted in parental love” so unlike in the US where Corporeal Punishment is heavily frowned upon it takes a lot for the government to view it in an abusive light.
There is also the fact that in Korea, there is a saying that “government cannot hop the family fence” and up until very recently the NCPA (National Child Protection Agency) didn’t even have the power or resources to remove legitimately abused children from their homes and there was at least one documented case of child death in those occurences. Again, Korean crimes are not documented by name, so we can’t actually delve into the details of that one case but there it is.
With the long arm of the law being somewhat flimsy and haphazard in this case, I would say that Jihoon is more in trouble for stealing the cell phone than he is for doing whatever he did to little Drasilla. Also, I don’t know what sort of penalty theft carries in Korea, or if it’s considered a misdemeanor or a felony, but if it is considered a felony then that could be the reason why Jihoon had trouble finding work right off the bat.
In the United States not a lot of people hire convicted felons, so if Korea has the same sort of policy you can only imagine what sort of challenges he would face in finding employment. This recent media attention may not help him any, but then again I’m not sure how popular 90 day fiancé is in Korea, if it’s not too popular then there’s a chance that Jihoon’s future employers (or even current) employers don’t even know about the open case, but I guess we’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
