A TikTok video has gone viral after an influencer was pictured at a Holocaust memorial making a pose in a manner that was disrespectful.
TikTok Video Goes Viral After An Influencer Is Accused Of Disrespecting A Holocaust Memorial
The incident was alleged to have occurred in Berlin, Germany and naturally drew a lot of backlash. In the video here, we can see that the influencer is posing for what looks like to be some sort of photoshoot.

Clearly, this was not the right place, nor time to be doing such a thing. Given that a reported 6 million people had died within the concentration camps, it was a sign of major disrespect, to say the least.
In the course of this video, a woman is clearly troubled by it. She is heard saying: “I’m horrified beyond words.” The video subsequently generated upwards of 10 million views. And the response on social media was rightly one of condemnation.
This had particularly struck a chord with those who had lost people during the Second World War. As such, posing in such a manner was not really paying homage to those who had suffered at the hands of such brutality.
While there is nothing wrong in documenting such history, when it is done for the purposes of social media clout, then it is uncalled for. One person on social media wrote: “This place has probably the most eerie, loudest silence I’ve ever experienced.
“I couldn’t imagine thinking this was somewhere for that,” while another stated: “The people saying, ‘the artist said it’s ok to take photos,’ are completely missing the point of why this is disrespectful.”
This is sadly not the first time that such a thing has happened at Holocaust memorials. With that in mind, it explains why many countries often criminalise any actions that are deemed to be calling into question or mocking the actual Holocaust.
Although the influencer has not yet commented on the backlash that she has been getting, it is clear that it would be best for her to not engage in such things going forward.
