Tiger Woods has said sorry to anyone who was upset by his “joke” on Justin Thomas at the Genesis Invitational golf tournament.
Tiger Woods Apologizes For Giving Justin Thomas A Tampon After Outdriving Him-‘It Was Just Friends Having Fun, I’m Sorry’
After an absence of 28 months from the tour, Woods was playing at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Even though two years ago Woods was in an accident that put his life in danger and endangered the use of his leg, the 47-year-old was still driving the ball as well as ever.
And by the looks of it, he left quite an impression. Woods was seen giving Rose a tampon after seeing that Thomas was not able to reach Woods’ distance on the ninth hole, as shown in the clip here.
Thomas tossed the item to the ground and they both burst out laughing; however, after it went viral, there was an uproar on social media with many people accusing it of being disrespectful to women on the basis of trolling them over a lack of strength.
And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media. One person wrote: “Sports commentators laughing, and the fact that Tiger Woods had the tampon in his pocket, ready for the right moment to disrespect women, again.
“Yeah, I guess Tiger might want to get a refresher on all that therapy he had after his first wife discovered what his other hobby was,” while another person stated: “Really a tough look for Tiger of all people to call someone a woman based on their driving.”
Therefore, Woods had no option but to come forward and address any offence that he may have created. And in the process of doing so, he held his hands up by apologising. He stated: “If I offended anybody it was not the case, it was just friends having fun and as I said if I offended anybody in any way shape or form, I’m sorry.”
