‘Tiger King’ star Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic has been very vocal about his prion sentence being a travesty and a miscarriage of justice.
Initially sentenced to 22 years behind bars for attempting to hire two men to kill his rival “the b$%&h, Carole Baskin”, Exotic is finally getting his way as the U.S. Court of ruled to vacate the sentence on a technicality on Wednesday.
Well, the flamboyant big cat owner is kind of getting his way.
Unlike Bill Cosby, who was released from jail when his sentence was vacated two weeks, Exotic will remain behind bars as his sentence is re-evaluated.

“Cosby’s conviction was erased,” a New York-based lawyer, not involved in the case, explained. “Here, Joe Exotic’s conviction stands. It’s just that there was an error in the sentencing process.”
Apparently Exotic’s two murder-for-hire counts against him were considered separately, when they should have been heard as one. The separation of the counts lengthened his sentence.
Along with the two counts of murder-for-hire, Exotic faced and was sentenced for eight counts of violating the Lacey Act for falsifying wildlife records and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act for his mistreatment of animals.
Exotic’s legal team are hoping to have his sentence shortened from 262-327 months in prison to 210-262.
According to Exotic, he believes he will die in prison sooner rather than later as he is in poor health and alleges to not be receiving a quality of care he deserves.
Though this is a win for ole Joe, it’s not the pardon he was hoping for when Donald Trump left office in the beginning of the year. Exotic was so confident of receiving a full pardon from the vacating President that he had a glam squad and stretch limo on stand by for his triumphant moment.
Needless to say, the pardon did not transpire.
The development in Exotic’s case came just one day after Nicolas Cage, who had been poised to play the Netflix sensation in a movie on Amazon, said the project will no longer happen as it is not topical any more.
