Three people have been wounded and three others injured following a mass shooting near Southpoint Mall, Durham, North Carolina, according to reports.

The incident has shaken up the country, given that it had occurred at a time when people were getting ready to enjoy the festivities on Black Friday.
As shoppers were in full flow looking to pick up the next bargain, the incident has certainly shaken up many members of the community.
Durham Police has confirmed that one of the victims was a 10-year old, but there is not enough information at the moment about the exact nature of what had happened. As of now, one person has apparently been detained by the authorities.
It is not known why this person was taken in, but the authorities have reason to believe that this suspect may have knowledge about the incident.
In an official statement, Durham Police said: “DPD is investigating a shooting incident at The Streets at Southpoint. The mall is being evacuated and will be closed while DPD investigates the incident.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area. There is no further threat at the mall.” This event shook up many shoppers, given that they had to be kettled inside the store in order to allow the authorities to ascertain what was going on.
In the pictures here, we can see that many shoppers are being advised to stay in the store. Shortly after, an officer can be seen pointing as he directs the customers out of the store.
And once again, stories like this raise the debate as to whether there should be gun reform within the United States. Although the 2nd amendment does grant the ‘right to bear arms,’ there is a growing call on the government to put some legislation in place to regulate the use of guns.
But in doing so, it may alienate certain right-wing supporters who value the right to be able to defend themselves. In the meantime, the only thing we can do is let the authorities investigate what happened so that they can get to the bottom of this and hold someone to account.
