There’s a new report that says Thomas Markle won’t be taking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to court. It was suggested earlier that the retired Hollywood lightening director wanted to take the Sussexes to court over his visitation rights to his two royal grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. Even though Thomas lives just south of the border in Mexico, he has not yet met Meghan’s children or even her husband, Prince Harry, in Montecito. Here’s what you need to know.
Thomas Markle Says He Won’t Sue Prince Harry And Meghan Markle For Visitation Rights To His Children
In a new interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Thomas said that even though he would love to meet his grandchildren one day, he won’t take their parents to court over it.
He put it this way: “I’ve had offers from several lawyers – pro-bono – because we do have the right to sue to see our grandchildren. But to me that’s like trying to descend into a game and using them like pawns and I won’t sue to see them because I just think that’s using them and it’s not what I plan to do. They shouldn’t be used, they are just babies. So no, I will wait. I will wait patiently until they are ready to bring them to me. But as long as my daughter has the attitude she doesn’t want me to see them, that’s the way it’s going to be.”
With that said though, Thomas did say he thinks it would be best if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved their family back to the U.K. Just like Thomas, Prince Charles also hasn’t met his granddaughter Lilibet, nor has he seen Archie in almost two years.
Thomas put it this way: “I would like them, all four of them, to go back to England and fulfill their duties. It’s better for the children and it’s better for them. By not taking back they are cheating their children. They also get much better protection in England than in Montecito. I would like to see them maybe make up with the Queen and make up with his (Harry’s) father, and then we can make up.”
