Ruthless is the adjective Victor used to describe Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). The audience found that to be rich because Leanna Love (Barbara Crampton) used that word in the title of her book about the Moustache. Leanna, one of his many ex-wives and a notorious media member, defined Victor precisely.

Victor was surprised Devon was considering giving Nate a second chance at Chancellor-Winters. The conversation at the Newman Ranch may doom Nate’s chances of a hoped-for return to his family’s company.

When asked about faking dementia, Victor told Devon that no regrets are had. Braeden’s character claims to have pulled the stunt to protect his business and family. Longtime viewers noted that Victor mentioned his business first.

Additionally, Devon is no angel. He unnerved Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) when taking to the late Hilary Hamilton’s (Mishael Morgan) sister, Amanda Sinclair (Morgan in her second role). Amanda and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) found Devon and Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) in a compromising position at the penthouse.

One of the more infamous incidents in Victor’s storied history came when he had Victoria arrested on her wedding day. He did that to prevent her and Billy Abbott (then played by the late Billy Miller) from marrying.

The legendary torture Victor put his other namesake, Victor Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), through is equally wrong. But that is all done in the name of so-called tough love.

So, for Victor to condemn Nate, in what remains a questionable conclusion about his loyalty to Newman Enterprises, is just plain wrong.

Nate found that his ideas were repeatedly rejected when working at Chancellor-Winters. Trying to adapt to the business world took work. So, Dominic’s character was attempting to transfer his skills from the medical world.

And why was Nate no longer a surgeon at Genoa City Memorial Hospital? Oh yes, Devon sucker-punched his cousin in the face after learning he and Elena were involved. That caused Nate to fall and shatter the bones in one of his hands.

The bottom line is that Devon wants his own way, like Victor. There is no room for another guy to challenge the status quo, so they want to box Nate out on Y&R.
