The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that a lot of fans would agree that Eric Braeden is the ultimate gentleman. While a lot of viewers are still reeling over the fact that actress Gina Tognoni was let go from The Young and the Restless in a controversial move that still doesn’t make a lot of sense to some fans, he’s keeping his cool. Eric, who is best known for his role as Victor Newman on the soap, recently had some very kind words to say about Gina and her replacement, General Hospital Michelle Stafford. Many viewers were confused as to why Gina was suddenly fired from her character as Phyllis Summers several weeks ago. Soon after her firing made headlines, reports indicated that General Hospital actress Michelle Stafford would replace her. As many fans can recall, Michelle played the original Phyllis Summers before she left the soap back in 2013. Since then, it’s been Gina who has been walking in Phyllis’ shoes for the past five years now.

And now Eric has a few things to say about the switch up. He took to his Twitter account to write, “I’d like to make something very clear, bec I hate misunderstandings!” he posted. “I have nothing but the greatest respect for GINA TOGNONI [ex-Phyllis], she’s a consummate professional! And , as with all colleagues who leave for one reason or another, it reminds us how fleeting this business is, sadly! Having said that, I couldn’t be happier that MICHELLE STAFFORD is back! When she left Y&R I was very upset, bec she defined the character of Phyllis, it was her creation! I’m very glad she’s back where she belongs &look forward to working with her!”
