Andy Cohen Slammed After Declaring That He Wanted Scammer Jen Shah To Avoid Jail Time

Andy Cohen has justified his initial response to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Jen Shah’s telemarketing fraud amid claims that he wished that she would be spared jail time.

Shah did not appear at the third season reunion and was absent from the BravoCon, which took place in October 2022. Prior to that, she had been a part of the show through its three-season run.

Recently, she was sentenced to serve six-and-a-half years in prison for the scam which authorities declared had exploited elderly and vulnerable people, leaving them penniless after their savings and credit cards were used up.

Jen altered her defence and admitted to one count of wire fraud. She is required to present herself for incarceration on Friday, 17th February 2023. Shah burst into tears while reading her declaration to the court. She has, however, made a commitment to pay back the entire $6.5 million in restitution for the victims.

And yet, Cohen’s initial reaction to the scandal has now been questioned. When asked about his comments about wanting Jen to avoid jail time, Andy said:  “I think I was hoping that she was actually innocent. That was before she pleaded guilty, I mean, that I said that, I would think?”

However, Andy’s comments were challenged with the claim that he had said these comments after she had pleaded guilty and not before. Cohen stated that he could not remember the contexts of his words. However, he sought to make it clear that Jen had to be held accountable in light of what has come out now.

His following comments confirmed as much: “Oh, God. Um, anyway! Wow, this is fun. And I’m like, “It’s up to the judge. She’s about to get sentenced to a lot of jail time. Yes, she did. And so, she should go to jail.

“You know, sometimes, if you get to know someone and you get to like them, you hope that they are not guilty.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
