For the last couple of months, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers feared the worst for Eric Forrester (John McCook), but so far he’s beating the odds and looks like he’ll recover.
There’s another tell tale sign that he’s not headed for the great fashion design firm in the sky, and that’s the actor saying he doesn’t intend to retire any time soon.
It’s good to hear as he’s one of our favorites on the show, but it does take away from some of the drama, unless the writers are planning something he’s not sharing with the rest of us.
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers – Sticking around
Eric’s been a mainstay on the show since its first episode in 1987, and it looks like he’s going to stick around for a while yet.
In an interview shared on She Knows, he talked about his love for coming to work and bringing the show’s stories to life.
“From my point of view, I’ll be working right up until they drag me out of here. I celebrate, privately, every day that I have this job. It’s fun, it’s creative, I like the people that I work with. After my lovely wife and wonderful children, it’s the next thing that I’m grateful for — this job and the work that I’m fortunate enough to get to do.
“I joke that one day, they’re going to have to call my wife and say, ‘Come get him!’ because until I can no longer remember lines or have some kind of physical limitation, I have no reason to stop working!”
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers – New stories keep it exciting
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers think it’s always great to hear how someone still loves what they do after decades of working on the same show, and that’s something unique to soap operas.
They allow us to grow close to our favorite characters and actor like no other shows.
That love for one’s job can be a powerful thing, and the excitement it brings keeps John coming back.
“Every time I get something new to play, I’m thrilled. Because how many old-man stories are there? I have to rely on Brad and the writers to keep coming up with things, because I don’t want to just be the old guy, bouncing his grandchildren on his knee and saying sweet things to them.
“I mean, I want that, too. That’s part of the character’s life. But I don’t want it to be all of his life.”
Eric’s illness is one of the best storylines out there and in many ways it’s been the best part of the show for months as the writers continue to struggle with repetitive dialogue, so it looks like this was a refreshing change for everyone.
Should John stick around until he can’t perform anymore? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
