‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ and ‘The Young and the Restless’ siren, Courtney Hope recently opened up to Soap Opera Digest about her experiencing joining The Bold as villainess-ish Sally Spectra.
Named after her great aunt, Sally Spectra the original was played by the late, great Darlene Conley. Courtney knew due diligence was necessary. Her homework, watching old episodes of the Sally and Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) rivalry doesn’t seem too bad to us, and neither does Courtney’s first couple of months on set.

In fact, only one month after joining the cast, Courtney found herself flying with her fellow cast mates to Australia to film scenes at the famed Opera House in Sydney and on the golden sand beaches the nation is known for.
Courtney was not complaining. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest she said, “I was like, ‘What show did I get on?’” she exclaimed. “The whole experience of working together and getting to know everyone there was great!”
Though Sally wasn’t always on the up-and up, in fact her final storyline on The Bold—pretending she was dying of a terminal disease in the hopes of winning her ex-boyfriend back—was pretty shady to say the least. Still, fans were sad ot see her leave L.A. and Forrester Creations behind.

It was “an abrupt ending to a monumental journey”, Courtney wrote on her social media, announcing she was leaving the soap. “Though I don’t know what the future holds this chapter of Sally has sadly come to an end.”
The Covid shutdown played a huge role in the way Courtney left town and left the show. At the time no one not even Courtney, maybe not even executive producer on B&B and Y&R, Bradley Bell knew that she would show up only months later in Genoa City.
“It was absolutely a surprise to me. I got a phone call on a Monday from my agent. I was told the writers from Y&R were hoping to write Sally into the show and would I be interested in joining. Immediately, I said yes!” Courtney had gushed to TV Insider back in November.
“I was very flattered, honored, and excited. I love the fact that it’s Sally. There was so much left unsaid with Sally. I really wanted to explore that, especially in a new place around new people.”
Seems as though Sally Spectra is really paying off for the stunning actress…I mean, where can I get a job that sends me to Australia a month after starting???
