Chris Harrison has opened up on the rumours circulating that Katie Thurston is destined to appear on season 17 of The Bachelorette as the lead.

When speaking on it, he denied that anything had been set in stone. He said: “We did not name her or anybody the next Bachelorette during the Women Tell All special. In fact, we didn’t even talk, who was the next Bachelorette. As far as I know [neither], Katie, [nor anybody else] has been named the next Bachelorette. And I promise you this; it will not be a part of the Tell All special at all.”
Nevertheless, he did concede that Katie was in the running. He added: “[She was in the hot seat as were several other women. [I] didn’t even ask her if she wanted to be the Bachelorette or even if she wanted to do that. There’s a large debate still going.” So has Katie got a chance? Well, former Bachelorette Trista Sutter has backed her to do well.
She told the Here for the Right Reasons podcast the following: “I do think she’d be a great Bachelorette. I have heard those rumours [but] I just don’t know. I feel like it’s pretty early, even though. I do love Katie. I think she would be great. I think that [she has] so many parts of what I think traditionally make great Bachelorettes.
“She is authentic; she’s willing to get down deep into her thoughts and share those thoughts, you know, expressing what’s going on with her.” All in all, it has been a busy time for Chris, who was also asked to address the controversy surrounding Rachael Kirkconnell’s social media activity. He added: “First and foremost, I don’t know.
“I haven’t talked to Rachael about it, we all need to have a little grace, a little understanding, a little compassion. I have seen some stuff online, again, this judge, jury, executioner thing where people are just tearing this girl’s life apart. Until I actually hear this woman have a chance to speak, who am I to say any of this. I saw a picture of her at a sorority party five years ago, that’s it.”
