Mike Johnson has encouraged the Bachelor fanbase to keep faith with the show, despite a significant number of people being alienated by the recent departure of Chris Harrison.

Chris initially walked away after his comments in response to the Rachael Kirkconnell scandal were deemed to be defending racist behaviour. While it had been hoped that he would return after a momentary break, any such plans were put to bed after the network confirmed his permanent departure.

That did not go down too well on social media, but Mike is looking to see the good in the bad. In an interview with Us Weekly, Mike said: “For the fans that adore Chris, the fans that adore the show and the fans that are annoyed, I just want to simply say that change can be good. You know, we must grow, we must evolve.”

In response to his departure, the producers have decided to have a range of celebrities hosting the show on an alternative basis. The most prominent one that has been confirmed is David Spade. He is said to take the mantle on Bachelor in Paradise for a reported two weeks.

Although this has gone down well with a certain number of fans, given that David is known for his comedic approach, others (much like Mike) are opposed to such an idea. Mike is more in favour of having a permanent host, which has worked so well in the past.

He added: “I personally like a franchise host…I really liked the way that Chris was. I like Steve Harvey, you know, I’m not really with the rotation of hosts because you want to make sure that you have something concrete.”

Regardless of the direction that the show chooses to go in, it will have to get its act together very quickly. The condemnation has already started from other stars of the show. Tanner Tolbert recently came out and blasted the franchise very publicly.

In a prior Instagram post, he remarked: “I know my opinion doesn’t really matter … but this s—t’s turning into a circus. I think the Bachelor franchise needs to figure their s—t out.”
