Susie Evans has bashed her boyfriend Clayton Echard’s critics following the conclusion of ‘The Bachelor.’

Clayton’s time as the lead was clouded by controversy to say the least. During the latter stages of the show, Clayton ended up telling three women that he loved them. This included Susie, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.

But when Clayton let Susie know that he had slept with all of them, she left the show while Clayton broke off things with the other two. While Susie and Clayton managed to get back together after the show, not everyone has forgotten.

During the first episode of ‘The Bachelorette’s new season, which had Gabby and Rachel as leads, several of the male contestants slammed Clayton. One referred to him as a “piece of s–t.”  And those hateful comments have ultimately rubbed Susie up the wrong way.

In an interview on the ‘Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe’ podcast, Susie admitted that the comments about Clayton started to get to her. She said: “Clayton handled it better overall than I did.

“I was annoyed. He can laugh at himself, and I can laugh at Clayton … and I can laugh at myself. But also, my fear is, does this open the floodgates back up of all the hate and stuff?”

Much in the same way, Clayton was not entirely impressed with the show broadcasting this negativity towards him. He was of the view that this did not have any benefits, and at a time where people were already unhappy with how he acted, airing further grievances about him was not going to make the situation better.

After all, it was a new season of the franchise, which is why it was time to move on. Clayton’s following comments confirmed as much: “Do I think that’s what should have been shown? I mean, no.”

Hopefully, with time, Susie and Clayton can manage to block out the background noise by focusing on their future. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
