Rachel Lindsay has hit out at fans, who have contributed to the rise of social media abuse, that continue to impact The Bachelor and its stars.

‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: Rachel Lindsay Blasts Fans-‘You’re So Damn Toxic’

Rachel, who was the subject of abuse that forced her to leave Instagram before returning, has sent out an alarm bell by claiming that the show could get cancelled, if the talk around it continues to occur in a negative light. In an interview on the Higher Learning podcast, Lindsay said: “It’s wild out there, y’all. Bachelor Nation, y’all are gonna be the reason this show doesn’t exist anymore ‘cause you’re so damn toxic.

“You’re gonna be the demise of the show and the reason it’s taken down.” She also addressed the abuse that Matt James had been receiving following the conclusion of the show. Matt did not do himself any favours with how he had treated another contestant, Michelle Young. She accused him of not providing her with closure, and instead dismissing her for Rachael Kirkconnell.

Matt had also been criticized for choosing Rachael, despite her social media controversy. But Rachel felt the abuse was still unwarranted. She added: “You’re nasty, you’re vile, you’re harassing Matt for a decision that he made. He supports the girl. He’s allowing her to do it on her own. Let’s move on.” It seems Rachael is moving on from her scandal as she passionately defended Matt, who became the target of social media abuse.

Matt, in response, deleted all his Instagram photos in an attempt to have a fresh start. Rachael should, nevertheless, be commended for how she was attempting to make things right. In a post to her fans on Instagram, she hit out at those attempting to attack Matt. She said: “Some of the things I’ve seen being said to and about Matt are repulsive. I respect the decisions that Matt has had to make during this experience.

“If you are directing hate towards him, please stop. Recognize someone’s humanity and think about the impact your words have.” Should the show fail to address the scandals that appear year after year, then there is a high chance that it could disappear. We are, after all, living through the so-called cancel culture.
