Former ‘Bachelor’ lead Matt James has admitted that he has never spoken to Clare Crawley.

Matt, for his part, was expected to appear on ‘The Bachelorette,’ something which Clare was the lead for. However, the pandemic had a part to play as filming for the season was delayed.
But when it began, things changed as Matt was declared as the first black, male lead on the franchise. And given that Matt’s name was being put out there, which led to the situation that he did not appear on Clare’s season, she was seemingly outraged.
In her comments at the time, she remarked: “If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season… you are in it for the wrong reasons… #dontwasteyourtime.”
Cleary, Matt did take those comments to heart. And on reflection, it is fair to say that Clare does not exactly have the best track record when it comes to her love life. When she did appear on the show, she decided to leave early in order to pursue a relationship with Dale Moss.
However, the pair split up only to then later reconcile before parting ways again. Just as the break-up became very bitter, Matt was equally shocked by the behaviour that Claire was exhibiting.
In an interview on the ‘Here for the Right Reasons’ podcast, Matt said: “I’ve never spoken to her in my entire life. I had nothing to say [when I first saw her tweet]. I was just like, ‘Dang, that’s crazy!’ I was in shock. I was at a loss for words when I saw that.”
Matt has fortunately managed to move on to better things, as shown by his relationship with Rachael Kirkconnell. As for Clare, she is still currently single and trying to settle down. With that being said, Matt will not be having any regrets over not appearing on Clare’s season.
