Chris Harrison’s chances of ever coming back to the Bachelor franchise are as good as gone, as the host’s exit has become permanent.

‘The Bachelor’: Chris Harrison Has Left The Show For Good

Chris, who had been a mainstay on the show for over a decade, had taken a step back after his comments in response to the Rachael Kirkconnell scandal were deemed to be perpetuating racism. While he did apologise in the aftermath and took some time out to take stock of things, the damage had been done.

In a statement at the time of the scandal, Chris had said: “I am an imperfect man, I made a mistake, and I own that. I believe that mistake doesn’t reflect who I am or what I stand for. I am committed to progress, not just for myself, also for the franchise.”  Naturally, the news was a shock given that there were no reports indicating that Chris had enough.

In fact, his comments suggested the opposite. In a prior interview on Good Morning America, Chris said: “I plan to be back, and I want to be back…I know that change is felt, not just by me but by many others. There is much more work to be done. And I am excited to be a part of that change.” So who can we expect to take over?

Well, current Bachelorette hosts Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe are bound to be in the running. They were initially seen as short-term replacements, but with the news surrounding Chris, things could easily take a turn. Although the duo would be a possibility, the franchise could head in another direction.

Bachelor in Paradise has confirmed that they will be introducing celebrity hosts on an alternate basis. As of now, David Spade has been confirmed to take the role for a reported two weeks. The franchise will have to act quickly in order to find a suitable replacement. Failure to do so could lead to a further drop in ratings and raise question marks over the future of the show.

Time will tell what will happen, but what we do know is that the franchise will never be the same without Chris.
