Thandiwe Newton shared a bizarre social media post in response to rumours that she may be going to rehab.

Thandiwe Newton Shares A Cryptic Social Media Post Following Concerns About Her Mental Health-‘Do We Hate Our Women’

The speculation first started after reports indicated that the actress had a breakdown following her split from Ol Parker, who she has been married to for 24 years. And things did not get any easier, as Thandiwe was recast on “Magic Mike: The Last Dance,” by Salma Hayek.

It was suggested that her behaviour on the set worried the crew. In a statement at the time, a source said: “Thandiwe had been acting strange on set, she has been very highly strung. Her apparent breakdown caused so much disruption, it became clear she couldn’t play the role.”

Not only that, but other reports stated she had been fired after arguing with Channing Tatum over Will Smith’s slapgate incident. Although the latter has since then been denied, it is clear that something is not right with Thandiwe. And so it showed.

In a post to her fans on Instagram, Thandiwe posted a picture of a corset. The post was captioned by the following comments: “Do We Hate Our Women? I wonder why we take from our women. Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?”

These quotes are significant for the following reasons. First of all, they are from the lyrics to Tupac’s song  “Keep Ya Head Up.” Therefore, it is clear that Thandiwe is trying to keep herself in a good place.

Secondly, the post has now been removed. As such, the star recognises that perhaps she needs to take some time to herself and focus on staying well. The response on social media was one of concern.

People were worried that unless the star got some immediate help, then there was a danger that her life could spiral out of control. One person wrote: “Well, I wish her well. There was something off…Mental health is important.”

Hopefully, Thandiwe can overcome her demons and get back to her usual self. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
