Terry Crews has a message but it’s one that not many people are agreeing with. The actor, who is best known for as Terry Jeffords on the hit comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has managed to spark a little controversy with his latest tweets about the Black Lives Matter movement that has been sweeping the country. Here’s what he has to say.
While Terry has certainly been vocal about the racial injustices, George Floyd’s death and the protests that have taken over almost every single major city in the U.S., his most recent tweets have managed to spark a little social media controversy with his latest statement. The actor tweeted on Tuesday, “If you are a child of God, you are my brother and sister. I have family of every race, creed, and ideology. We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both his fans and critics to respond. Some included, “I think there is concern that this is leading to more division. There are plenty of people who profit off the fear. Watching the news you wouldn’t know what the real facts are,” along with, “If you are a child of God…. That is an instant turn off, tune out a statement for me. Let’s leave god out of this discussion. Let’s turn thoughts & prayers into action and compassion.”
Another social media user put it this way, “It’s simple. He has a different view of things. Some will disagree. Some will kill other Black people for sundry reasons. a difference of opinion is expected, especially because while I do agree that Black Lives Matter, I’m not sure I know what happens after we agree to that. Surely that is not enough and then I can see that Mr. Crews might also be wondering what is next? Black Supremacy is probably not a real threat, but I know that what I consider a real threat is not the same for everyone.”
