A stalker who made claims that he and Taylor Swift were communicating via social media was arrested after trying to break into the pop-star’s Manhattan apartment on Saturday.
Hanks Johnson, 52, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening after police officers responded to a 911 call. The person who sounded the alarm reported Johnson was trespassing inside Swift’s Tribeca building.
Stalker Arrested for Attempted Break-In at Taylor Swift’s New York Apartment
Johnson insisted that he and 31 year old Swift had a relationship as they were messaging each other on Instagram. He ‘proved’ this by sending messages to Taylor’s verified Instagram account then claimed the predictive text suggestions that popped up on his phone were direct replies from the singer-songwriter.
Johnson, who was released from custody on Sunday, also currently has a restraining order against him from Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid. The models and sisters are both members of Taylor’s famous ‘girl squad’.
Johnson is far from being Swift’s first stalker. Being in the public eye since 2006, Taylor has been plagued by overzealous fans and stalkers. In 2018 a different man, Ricardo Alvarado was charged more than once with burglary and criminal contempt.
In February 2018 he was attested for attempting to break down Swift’s door with a shovel. Only two months later Avarado, 23 used a ladder to enter Swift’s apartment. He took a shower then a nap in the star’s bed where he was found by police and promptly arrested. Taylor was, thankfully, not home at the time.
The pop star had previously revealed she had to hire security 24/7 to protect her as people kept finding out where she lived, no matter how hard she tries to keep her home and personal location a secret. She says she is always considering worst-case scenarios and constantly carries army-grade bandage dressing “for gunshot or stab wounds” at all times.
Sounds like quite the price for fame!
