Lee Seo-hwan, the actor who chillingly portrayed the ill-fated Park Jung-bae in Netflix’s “Squid Game,” has offered a chilling glimpse into the potential darkness that may consume Gi-hun in the upcoming third season.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Seo-hwan, who himself met a grisly end in the brutal games, shared his own unsettling predictions for Gi-hun’s future. “I know nothing about Season 3, but as a viewer and a fan myself, I think there could be three possibilities,” Seo-hwan mused, a hint of a chilling smile playing on his lips. “One would be Gi-hun losing all hope, and the second, him becoming even more vengeful. But the third possibility…” He paused, letting the ominous silence hang in the air, “…would be him becoming vengeful towards the players, not the people behind the game. If I were Jung-bae, I think it would be most heartbreaking to see Gi-hun go all vengeful and spiteful towards the players.”

Gi-hun, 1 the unlikely hero of Season 1, faced a more subdued arc in Season 2, leaving some viewers yearning for the raw, desperate intensity of his initial journey. However, Seo-hwan’s chilling prediction suggests that Gi-hun’s struggle is far from over. The psychological trauma of the games, coupled with the ongoing societal injustices he witnesses, could push him to a breaking point, leading him to lash out at the very people he once fought alongside.

“Squid Game” Season 2, while a critical and commercial success, didn’t quite capture the same cultural zeitgeist as its groundbreaking predecessor. While it still dominated Netflix’s top 10 for weeks, the critical acclaim was slightly muted, with some critics finding the second season to be a shadow of its former glory.

Nevertheless, the anticipation for Season 3 remains high. Fans are eager to see how Gi-hun’s story will unfold, whether he will succumb to the darkness within, or if he can somehow find redemption and hope in the face of overwhelming despair.

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
