When Sister Wives cast member, Christine Brown told Kody Brown that she was leaving, she knew it would be complicated to tell their youngest child, Truely Brown that she was leaving her father. It took Christine sometime before she told anyone else that she was leaving Kody, but when Truely found out, things didn’t go as expected.
Sister Wives: The Betrayal
Many of Christine’s children knew much sooner about the divorce than Truely did. Christine wanted to talk to her about the move and what would be next for their family. Truely said, “So, the first day when I found out, I was extremely upset, but I’m fine now. I just had to realize for a day that not everything was going to change. I kind of noticed the signs that mom wasn’t happy in the marriage. It was a bit of a heartbreak at first, but I’m fine now.”

When Truely found out about the split, she knew that she needed to call her sister, Aspyn Brown, and her grandmother to try and get some things off of her mind. “When I talked to Aspyn and my grandma about the divorce, it was more of me trying to tell them because I didn’t really know what else to do. Although what they did say is reassuring, because they both already knew. But also the realization that everyone knew before me, it did kind of feel like a betrayal.”
Truely did tell her mother that she wishes that she hadn’t kept it a secret for so long because she would have liked to have the knowledge so she could prepare herself for a move and the changes coming into her life.
She added, “They knew before me, I wasn’t told we were going to be moving in September, which is only a few months away. That realization that she told me last after everybody else that I didn’t get to know and we were about to leave, was kinda hurtful. It did feel like a betrayal that she wouldn’t bother to tell about it and I was going to be affected the most.”
Christine admits that telling her youngest was the hardest thing to do and she felt like it would have been a huge burden for Truely if she had known sooner.
