Sergey Kovalev has promised to knock out Jake Paul should the pair ever meet in a boxing ring.

Sergey Kovalev Calls Out Jake Paul-‘I’m Ready And I Will Knock Him Out’

Sergey is bound to feel confident given that he is the former light heavyweight champion, the title which he lost to Andrew Ward. He then followed this up with another title loss to none other than Canelo Alvarez.

While he has not fought since 2019, Sergey has backed himself to take down Jake. In an interview with TMZ, he said: “Fight with Jake Paul? I’m ready and I will knock him out. Let me make my comeback fight and then we can do any fight.”

In reality, the chances of this happening are very slim. First of all, Sergey is still  active on the boxing circuit. He has another fight coming up this May against Tervel Pulev. Therefore, despite his recent losses, it is fair to say that he still has a lot to give in the sport.

As such, Jake will not likely take this as he has yet to fight a professional boxer. Although he did have plans to fight Tommy Fury, that fight did not go ahead due to the latter picking up an injury.

Secondly, Sergey’s decision to fight Jake could only be explained on the basis of taking a big payday. The pay-per-view numbers are bound to high, but the reality is that in a match up, the Russian would be a heavy favourite.

Lastly, it looks as though Jack has an eye on somebody else. He has repeatedly called out Canelo, who by all accounts, is the number one pound for pound boxer in the game. And that is where he has decided to turn his focus towards.

In a prior interview with The Journey, Jake remarked: “I would take the fight, right now I couldn’t beat Canelo, five fights from now or six fights from now, I could put up a f***ing awesome fight and we’ll see what happens.”

Time will tell whether this match-up goes ahead. So there you have it folks. What do you think about all of this?
