After her unfavorable response to Chris Brown at the VMAs, Selena Gomez is the subject of online memes, but she promptly clapped back when the ceremony was done.
In case you missed it, Selena was seen on camera when the names of the Best R&B candidates were read out on Tuesday night, and the now-viral event occurred as Chris’ name was called out.
As the song “How Does It Feel,” a collaboration between Chloe Bailey and Chris Brown was unveiled, she scrunches her face and stops clapping. But when they got to the next nominaton, she grinned again and started clapping.
When the celebrations, and more crucially, when the clip went viral, the singer posted a message on Instagram promising to “never be a meme again” and adding that she’d prefer to have no reaction at all than flaunting her real emotions.

She probably made that look in the crowd since Chris, as you may know, famously attacked his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 and has been charged with several assaults on women over the years.
Selena isn’t denying her response, which is fascinating, but she seems more upset with the meme in general, which includes pictures of her just sitting about bored throughout the award event.
Selena was also criticized yesterday night for obstructing her ears during Olivia Rodrigo’s VMAs performance, although her behavior looked to be a response to the rehearsed act gone awry, as onstage explosions drowned out Olivia’s singing.
Recall that Selena and Rema won the Best Afrobeats award for “Calm Down” during the presentation, and Selena praised Rema for believing in her and allowing her to be a part of the song.
I think we can all relate with Selena’s night at the VMAs and it was funny to see someone not hide their emotions. Keep being yourself Selena, people love it!
