Singer Selena Gomez has spoken about how wearing makeup as a child ended up harming her mental health.

Selena Gomez Admits That Wearing Make Up As A Child Impacted Her Mental Health-‘That Kind Of Messed With Me’

It is no secret that the star has struggled with her health, as shown by the fact that Selena has shared her troubles concerning depression and anxiety. As a consequence, she decided to undertake therapy in her twenties as well as spending time in a facility.

This was even more visible when the star admitted to taking a break from social media in order to recollect her thoughts. And it all came to a head when Selena stated that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020.

But looking back, the star had long-standing demons that she had to combat. In an interview with Elle magazine, she said: “I’ve been in makeup since I was seven years old.

“I feel like that kind of messed with me…’I’ve been a victim to wanting to change my face and do things because I see such like intense trends.”

Nevertheless, that was only one of the factors that had impacted Selena. She had also been working within the entertainment industry from the age of 7.

That was when she had her first major break in acting by working on the show entitled ‘Barney and Friends.’ Ever since that moment, she has not slowed down as her career went from strength to strength.

Naturally, like many other entertainment stars, she managed to make a cross over into singing. And that eventually took its toll. She added: “You’re so young and then working.

“I have professionals doing my makeup and suddenly I can look 25 when I was 16, and it was crazy.” In order to combat those issues, Selena decided to create her own make up brand ‘Rare Beauty.’

This would allow other people, who were struggling with similar issues, to embrace what they looked like, without excessively using make up.

Her following comments confirmed as much: “I think the most rewarding part of creating this line is that we create a place for people who don’t necessarily want to get work done or change their face.”
