Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma months after being treated for breast cancer. Fergie had a mole removed, and after the laboratory tested the biopsy, the doctor reported that it was the most serious type of skin cancer.

Sarah Ferguson Will Need Surgery to Remove the Tumor

The Duchess of York was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2023. Her imaging revealed there was a shadow in her breast. Most people think that the only thing that indicates breast cancer is a lump in the breast. However,  that’s not always the case.

A shadow can go undetected because of the more extensive spread of cancerous cells, which can be seen through imaging. The area was tested, and it came back as cancerous. Fergie had a successful mastectomy.

Sarah had several moles removed during reconstructive surgery, and one of them was cancerous. Her doctors are in the process of determining whether the malignancy was caught early.

Fergie will need an immediate operation to remove the tumor from her face. The Duchess is grateful to her entire medical team, who have supported her throughout this ordeal.

Sarah has received devastating news that she has skin cancer. The press reports that she is in good spirits despite the overwhelming news. She believes it is imperative to check the size, shape, color, texture, and emergence of new moles that could indicate cancer.

It is the hope that Fergie and her medical team that the cancer is in its early stages so that she will have no further problems, but she will have testing to see if it has spread to other areas of the body.

Melanoma Skin Cancer is Often Treatable

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer that can spread, and it is the result of being in the sun with no protection like sunscreen. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet light, or (UV), can cause skin cancer.

Sunscreen protects the skin from direct contact with the sun, and as per The Skin Cancer Foundation,

“regular use of SPF 15 sunscreen can reduce the risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by about 40 percent and lower your melanoma risk by 50 percent.”

Melanoma skin cancer is often treatable. The kind of treatment you will have will depend upon if the cancer has spread and your overall health.

Generally, surgery is the preferred form of treatment for skin cancer. Treatment may also involve radiotherapy, which helps to decrease the size of larger melanomas and help reduce the symptoms of cancer. Sometimes, chemotherapy is necessary in advanced cases.

The Duchess of York reportedly has spent the past few weeks at the Mayrlife Clinic, an Austrian resort visited by many celebrities.  It is a spa that sits on the shores of Lake Altausse and follows the teachings of an Austrian physician named Franz Mayr, who believes that illnesses come from the gut.

The clinic puts their guests on a strict nutrition regime and helps them cleanse their digestive system. They feel that with detoxification, you can experience a total health transformation. Fergie is spending time at this clinic, recuperating from her cancer diagnosis.

Sarah Ferguson is urging everyone to have their moles checked and be diligent and active about their health. Always speak up to your doctor if you notice something suspicious on your body.
