Sarah Ferguson has praised Meghan Markle’s bravery in launching her own children’s book.

Meghan, for her part, recently released her book entitled ‘The Bench.’ The book explores the relationship between a father and son. Meghan admitted to that being based on her and Prince Harry’s time in bringing up Archie. In a statement at the time of the book’s release, the couple said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born.”

Sarah praised Meghan’s newfound independence. The latter had promised to become more independent from the royal family. This was only natural. They could not be expected to leave the royal family but continue to benefit from the privileges that would come their way. And that single-minded approach has been lauded.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Sarah said: “To sit down and work hard to write a book, in any genre, should be supported and respected.” Although that bravery has been praised, Meghan has received criticism. She had been accused of plagiarising the work after it drew similarities with another author’s work.

Corrinne Averiss had also released a book called ‘The Boy on the Bench.’ And the parallels were very striking. Corrinne’s book, much like Meghan’s, had a father and son sitting on a park bench. Not only that, but the front covers were also very similar. Nevertheless, Corrinne downplayed any fears that Meghan had been plagiarising.

In a post to her fans on Twitter, Corrinne said: “Reading the description and published [an] excerpt of the Duchess’s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme as The Boy on the Bench. I don’t see any similarities.” So how has the book been received? Well, in comparison to Kate Middleton’s book, it has not hit those high numbers yet.

While the project has just been released, there is no doubt that comparisons will be made. But with Meghan’s CBS interview continuing to divide the public, she has plenty of material in place in order to write further books. We wait to see if she will have further releases.
