Sam Smith’s appearance on the cover of Perfect Magazine caused a great deal of commotion, prompting people to discuss issues related to physical appearance and self-acceptance.
Sam Smith’s Latest Magazine Photo Shoot Mocked For Being Anti-Body Positive-‘Looks Like A Suffocating Pig’
The singer, who identified as non-binary with they/them pronouns, was attempting to make people reflect on their own conception of “perfection”. The following pictures show Smith wearing a corset with laces, and another photo that depicted them in a style reminiscent of World War II.
Those images raised a lot of talking points, with large numbers of people expressing outrage for the following reasons. First of all, Smith was seen as trying to impose their version of what is deemed acceptable onto others. Secondly, others argued that they were coming across as deeply thirsty for attention.
One person wrote: “Someone has to put an end to this. It’s gone too far,” while another person stated: “You and I must have different definitions for perfect. Looks like a suffocating pig.”
This is not the first time that Smith has come under fire. Recently, the vocalist has also been criticized for their presentation at the Grammy Awards, which included them wearing a devil costume with red lights and horns on their head. The performance created so much uproar that even Ted Cruz came out to state that this was ‘evil.’
In addition to this, Smith was also seen attending a red carpet event at the BRIT Awards wearing an inflatable-latex outfit that was in black, much to the ridicule of those on social media, as shown in the images here.
Despite this being the case, Smith has shown that they will continue to do what they think is best regardless of what others may have to say about it all. And that is not going to change anytime soon.
