Saliva’s original member and guitarist Wayne Swinny passed away from a brain hemorrhage. Only a few hours after the band disclosed Wayne was in the ICU following the medical emergency, tragic news broke.
A representative for the band said, “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Wayne Swinny, the guitarist of Saliva. Wayne passed away this afternoon from a spontaneous brain hemorrhage while on tour.”
Saliva Guitarist And Founding Member Wayne Swinny Dies At Just 59 Years Old
Saliva’s main singer, Bobby Amaru wrote,
“I’m not even sure what to think or how to feel right now. My heart aches for Wayne’s family, his friends, and anyone who had the joy of being around him. My heart aches for his daughter Nikki. He loved that little girl so much … He would go out of his way to make sure you had a good time. I’m grateful that I got to share almost 12 years of my life with Wayne on the stage and most importantly off the stage.”
In the ICU, Wayne was fighting for his life. He had a spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage, which was discovered when he was taken to the hospital on Tuesday. In 1996, Wayne was one of the original members of Saliva and contributed to the formation of the group.
The band is in “complete shock and heartbreak,” according to Josey Scott, the wife of Saliva’s former lead vocalist, who also posted about Wayne’s passing.
She recalls Wayne as having a wonderful sense of humor and claims Josey referred to him as his “musical soulmate.”
Rest in peace, Wayne. He was just 59.
