A Worker On The Set Of 'Rust' Could Have His Arm Amputated Following A Spider Bite

The fallout from the set of ‘Rust’ continues with the news that a worker has been bitten by a spider, which then may require a possible amputation of the arm.

The movie has been in the spotlight ever since Alec Baldwin’s gun prop incident, which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

And any hopes of this controversy dying down look to be diminished by this latest incident. According to reports, Jason Miller was bitten as he was attempting to close the set. Given that he worked as a pipe rigger, he was exposed to this rare spider.

It is not clear yet whether there were inadequate safety issues as of yet, but regardless, it shows that the movie cannot continue in light of everything that has been going on.

The results of the bite have been serious indeed. In the pictures here, by TMZ, we can see that the images were too graphic to show in full. However, we can make out a huge wound on his arm.

Jason was taken to hospital as a result for several days. The wider community and fanbase, in response, have set up a GoFundMe campaign in order to cover his medical costs.

The fund states that Jason was in the hospital for a “necrosis of his arm and sepsis.” As of now, the fund has managed to raise over $10,000.

The surgery was extensive, with Jason requiring “multiple surgeries each day as doctors did their best to stop the infection and try to save his arm from amputation.”

Jason’s family have become concerned about this. They are looking to get some redress by apparently suing for compensation. If this does go ahead, then the chances of success are going to increase, given that it would be a bad PR move to deny Jason some redress in light of everything that has happened on Rust.

A spokesperson for the movie, however, was very coy on this incident. “We do not comment on individual members of the cast and crew’s private matters.” Time will tell how this will play out.
