British Royal News finds that it was revealed on Friday afternoon that Prince Phillip had been admitted into a hospital for the night. However, it was also announced that the Duke’s arrival at the hospital was only a precautionary measure and fans of the Royals shouldn’t get too overwhelmed by the announcement.
It has been a challenging year for the Duke of Edinburgh, and his health has been deteriorating over the last 12 months. There were fears over his health earlier in the year when he was taken off a lot of royal responsibilities. Prince Phillip is also very rarely seen in public nowadays, with fans often concerned regarding his health.
British Royal News: Entered Hospital On Friday
The prince was taken to hospital from Sandringham on Friday. He was taken to the King Edward VII Hospital, and the doctors there are apparently observing and giving treatment for a pre-existing medical condition. It was also revealed that the 98-year-old is hopeful of leaving the hospital over the weekend so that he can spend time with the family over Christmas.
Buckingham Palace refused to comment or deny the reports regarding the way that the Duke got to the hospital. It was believed that he was taken by helicopter for most of the journey before he was driven the remainder. Prince Phillip was taken to the hospital on the advice from doctors at the Sandringham residence.
British Royal News: Prince Phillip In Good Spirits
According to reports, the Duke is in good spirits at the hospital. He waled into the King Edward hospital, and he is only expected to be there for the weekend, before leaving on Monday. It would have been a shock to the Queen that he was taken to hospital, as her majesty was due to arrive at Sandringham on Friday to begin the Christmas festivities.
The Queen travelled to the residence by train on Friday, as she was seen getting the Great Northern service from King’s Cross station. She was later pictured getting off the train at King’s Lynn, before stepping into a car for the remainder of the journey. It is unknown at this time whether she will be visiting the Duke at the hospital while he is there.
