Kay puts it this way, “What he failed to understand then — and probably still doesn’t now — is not that there was public resentment at the cost of refurbishing Frogmore, but that the public felt cheated when Harry chose to keep secret details about son Archie’s birth and christening.
He added, “It sent the message that they were happy to take public money for granted, but not if it meant having to share things with the public they didn’t want to,’ says a courtier. ‘Ever since, it has become more and more toxic.”
So far both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comments about Richard Kay’s criticism but there are new reports that say they have paid back the $3 million that it cost to renovate Frogmore Cottage.
What’s more, the couple has not made any comments or made an indication as to when they plan on returning back to the UK. Harry and Meghan want to keep Frogmore Cottage as their home base for whenever they decide to return to Britain for work purposes or short trips.
