Ronen Rubinstein, who is the star of 9-1-1: Lone Star, has come out and revealed that he is bisexual.
Ronen Rubinstein Comes Out As Bisexual
The actor finally put the rumours regarding his sexuality to bed, with the news early this month. In an interview with Variety, he said: “I literally just got goosebumps saying [I’m bisexual] that. It feels so good to talk about it. It feels so good to finally be comfortable with it.” Ronen is no stranger to finding issues with fitting in. After all, he was born in Israel and came to the United States when he was just five.
He has spoken on the difficulties of adapting, given he had to learn English and become accustomed to the American culture. Naturally, when he made the decision to come out, he felt similar reservations in doing so. He added: “The biggest thing for me is where I come from. It’s like people like me and people who have identified as bisexual or gay or as any part of the community; you’re just not welcomed. It’s as brutally honest as that.”
This role on the show 9-1-1: Lone Star definitely helped his decision to speak about his sexuality, given that he played a character that was openly gay. But now he has made the decision, what has been the reaction from those close to him? His girlfriend, Jessica Parker Kennedy, who is also an actress has come out and backed him.
Given they both operate in a profession where they pretend to be someone else, trying to do that with your personal life is almost impossible. Jessica’s input, though, was valuable. He continued: “She definitely encouraged me to be vocal about it, just to live my truth. She’s like, ‘I love you for who you are, your full self and people will love you for who you are and your full self.”
The sentiment has been positive from the public too. One fan on Twitter praised Ronen and his friends for their courage: “Looking good fellas, We are so proud of you how you represent [the] LGBTQ community and helping people to come out and having no fear to be different.”
