‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ star Gina Kirschenheiter has praised her boyfriend, Travis Mullen for helping her deal with her ex-husband Matt Kirschenheiter’s domestic violence.

Matt was subsequently arrested for domestic violence, after which he pleaded guilty to battery. And as part of that, Gina decided to file a restraining order against him because she felt she was ‘going to die.’

But given that they do share children together, Gina realised that this would only have created a wedge between the family. As such, she dropped the restraining order and decided to focus on herself.

And so it showed, as Gina and Travis have been together since 2019. Although they do have a strong affection for one another, things were not so easy at the beginning, given that Gina had a lot of resentment towards Matt.

But through it all, Travis managed to stay patient and offer a helping hand to Gina whenever she felt that her memories got the better of her. That is why she had nothing but warm words for him.

In an interview with Us Weekly, she said: “You know, [I’ll] be like, ‘Oh, I want to kill Matt or whatever,’ he’s the person, the driving force, that’s like, ‘Yeah, but you don’t want to do that.’”

This decision has paid dividends in the long run. The communication between Gina and Matt could not be any better.

They have sufficient co-parenting arrangements in place, which has allowed the children to see their father and maintain a harmonious relationship despite both of them moving on. That is, in part, due to the valuable contribution that Travis has made.

Gina added: “We [with Travis] get along…I probably took a lot of that out on [Travis], and that’s probably not right. And the fact that he is willing to be there and help me get through to the other side is really amazing.”

It is great to see Gina in a much better place after what she has been through. And this improvement will only go on to benefit the children as they will have a relationship with their father.
