Al Sharpton, an African American social rights activist, asserted that Meghan Markle received different treatment following her marriage to Prince Harry due to her colour.

Reverend Al Sharpton took the chance to criticize Jeremy Clarkson’s opinion piece in which he expressed a desire to have Meghan paraded around without clothes, while people threw excrement at her.
This incident was very damning since members of the Royal Family did not issue a statement to condemn this statement. Not only that, but Clarkson’s apology was addressed to Harry, even though Meghan was the one who was directly impacted by the words.
In his comments, Sharpton said: “The reaction was so, so much acrimony. And just looking to treat her differently…It was somebody black working in the C-suites for the first time.
“And they treat you differently. I think she became a symbol not of her own making.” Harry and Meghan have been criticized as of late for asserting that the Royal family treated her unfairly on account of her race.
Harry has contested the notion that he accused the Royal Family of being racist, but he did admit that they had shown ‘unconscious bias’ when talking about Meghan’s declaration to Oprah Winfrey that one of the royals was anxious about the shade of Archie’s skin.
In his comments, Harry remarked: “No I didn’t. The British press said that. Did Meghan ever mention that they’re racist?” The social media response, though, was not in favour of Sharpton.
This was on the grounds that people felt the issue of race was being politicised in order to deflect attention away from Meghan’s inconsistent remarks about the firm. One person wrote: “Oh please, enough with this nonsense.
“Meghan is a rude, condescending, self absorbed opportunist who doesn’t even speak to her own family and then rakes the royal family over the coals.”
