Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Sean Burke are enjoying their new-found sobriety together as the two celebrated a year of being sober.

When speaking to his fans on Instagram, Sean said: “It’s been a year, and you made it…. sober. So happy we are where we are today!” In the picture below, the two are enjoying themselves on the beach with some balloons to mark the occasion.

And Braunwyn could not hide her excitement as she posted a picture too. In the photo, the two are smiling and pictured next to a massive cake with the following caption: “No one ever said it would be easy but thank you @seanwindhamburke for making it easier. Officially #1YearSober… as always, one day at a time #onedayatatime #oneyearsober.”

The celebrations all came after a challenging period in which Braunwyn admitted she had a drinking problem. She said: “When I drank, I drank until I blacked out or got sick. But I never drank when I was pregnant or nursing — and in many ways, I think that probably saved my life. I went to a meeting when I lived in Miami, but instead of sticking to a program, I just got pregnant.
“I have seven kids, so that’s a huge chunk of my life that I was sober — or I should say, not drinking. Now I realize there’s a difference between not drinking and being sober, for me.” And this was particularly difficult as Braunwyn faced a backlash from Kelly Dodd who believed her sobriety was not genuine.
She was asked by Andy Cohen: “Do you regret your lack of sensitivity towards Braunwyn’s struggle with sobriety, saying that you would not stop drinking because you are not a quitter?” And Kelly answered: “No, I don’t regret it [the comments]. I think that her whole sobriety thing is contrived, and I think it’s fake.” This caused Braunwyn to fire back:
“If I was going to do something just for ‘storyline’, I would have picked something easier, being sober in this toxic environment ain’t easy….to have someone diminish the struggle is low, I’ve been blessed to have support and have been working a program if you need help it works.”
