The stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey are known for putting their hearts on their sleeve, even if it can be to their detriment. A source told Us Weekly how the two perfectly complement each other: “They’re like Bonnie and Clyde — they’re a package deal and have to be together to be for the show. They do love each other immensely, but they’re finally just sharing with viewers that they have issues they have to work through.
“They’re not a perfect couple.” The duo got married to each other in 2004, and since then, they have gone through a whole host of issues. Given they wed at such a young age, in comparison to most couples, their priorities have been clearly changed with time. The problem is this may conflict with each other. The source added: “[Joe’s] certainly not thrilled about all of her ‘extracurricular activities and spending a lot of time working on her store Envy.
“He’d prefer her cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids. He takes the traditional approach.” While there is no suggestion that the couple will split, should things not change, there is a fear that something may have to give as they grow older. In a previous interview with Us Weekly, Melissa spoke on how the prospect of change scares Joe. She said: “He likes things to stay the same.
“I’ve been with him since I was 24 years old. So I’ve changed, and I feel like this is a scary part of marriage. Either you’re going to grow together, or you’re going to grow apart.” But Melissa has promised to keep on going and put her family first, mainly because they share kids together. She noted: “We try really hard. We fight really hard for our family, and it’s not easy to be on reality TV for 11 years and still stand strong.”
With the show starting the new season with plenty of drama, we can also expect to see more fireworks between Melissa and Joe.
