Real Housewives of Miami star Julia Lemigova will make history, as she is set to appear on the show as the first gay housewife ever on their debut season.

Julia, for her part, is not exactly shy when it comes to talking about her love life. She is currently with none other than tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

Although the show does have a history of people coming out, as shown by Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Brandi Glanville, Julia has done something that neither have done before.

She has been open about her sexuality right from her first season. In the trailer here, we can see that Martina and Julia share a kiss together. They could not be any happier with their lives. And on reflection, it is easy to see why.

Their marriage played out in the most dramatic of circumstances, as it was a period that neither of them could forget. In 2014, Martina made the decision to propose to Julia live on TV during the US Open.

And things went ahead as planned, as the proposal led to their eventual wedding. But aside from the actual big day, the duo are from similar backgrounds, which is why they were attracted to each other.

Martina, for her part, grew up in Czechoslovakia. Meanwhile, Julia was brought up in the Soviet Union. That tough upbringing only went on to make them appreciate each other more.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Julia remarked: “I suppose our similar Eastern European backgrounds provided the connection at first.

“There was a lot in common. I remember her being very funny, and us just laughing a lot.” The response on social media has been firmly positive.

A significant proportion of people cannot wait to see how Martina and Julia’s relationship plays out on screen. One person on Twitter wrote: “Not disappointed AT ALL! Come on Dec 16th!!”

The anticipation for the new season is only growing, and if the trailer is anything to go by, then the fans are certainly in for a treat. Time will tell whether the show does deliver.
