Nene Leakes’ husband, Gregg Leakes has sadly passed away at the age of 66 after failing to overcome his battle with cancer.

The duo, who are synonymous with The Real Housewives of Atlanta, have been through a lot. Greg’s problems first occurred in 2018 when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Ever since that moment, he struggled to overcome it as Nene was clearly distressed by it all. She left the housewives franchise and aided her husband to the best of her ability. But it was not enough, as Gregg was sadly taken.
In a statement given on behalf of Nene, her representative asked for some privacy as Nene gets to grips with the news. The statement said: “Today, the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes.”
The news is tragic, but looking back, the writing was on the wall. Just days prior to this announcement, Nene had a minor breakdown during an event that she attended. When one of the audience members requested that she wish them a happy birthday, she did so with an expression of sadness on her face. Clearly, she was occupied by the thought of her husband.
But the fan criticised her, which caused Nene to snap back, confirming that Gregg did not have long to live. In her comments at the time, she remarked: “You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now. My husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say, Happy birthday.” Despite the hardship she is going through, the members of the show have been on hand to support her.
And that includes none other than the show’s host Andy Cohen. When the news dropped, he immediately expressed his deep sympathies at what Nene must be going through.
In a post to his followers on Twitter, he stated: “I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man…I am sending love and strength to @neneleakes & the entire Leakes family.” Let us hope that Nene can get through this tough time.
