You won’t hear from her, nor will you see her. There’s a new report that says Queen Elizabeth will be out of the public eye while she privately mourns the death of her beloved husband, Prince Philip. Here’s what you need to know.

There’s a new report that says Queen Elizabeth will go into eight days of mourning after the death of her husband Prince Philip on Friday. The monarch, 94, will not give royal assent to any laws and may not be seen in public for more than a week as official procedure creates time for her to process the loss.

Following the eight days, a further period of official Royal Mourning is expected to continue. While the country is expected to go into a period of 10 days of mourning, the royal household will do so for 30 days, and guardsmen will be seen with black armbands on their tunics during that period.

The royal family announced the Duke of Edinburgh’s death on Friday in a statement.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,” the statement reads.

Plans for Philip’s funeral have been discussed for years under the codename “Operation Forth Bridge.” In keeping with his wishes, Philip will likely have a royal ceremonial funeral, not a full state funeral, which means that he will not lie in state.

It’s also been noted that Prince Harry will also fly to the funeral from Los Angeles to London to mourn alongside the rest of the royal family. Now, whether or not Meghan Markle will be there with her husband remains to be seen.
