One of Telemundo’s most popular (and controversial) super series is getting ready to return. El Final del Paraíso spoilers via the series of promos released promise more trouble for Catalina Santana (Carmen Villalobos), as well as her family and friends. In anticipation of the long-awaited return, let’s check out some facts about this long-running franchise.

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Literary beginnings

The franchise is based on the book, Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso (Without breasts, there is no paradise). Written by the show runner, Gustavo Bolívar, the book is fictional, but the inspiration is very real. He uses Catalina and other characters to explore the very real world of drug trafficking and prostitution that many young women have entered to escape poverty.

Telemundo’s entry into the franchise in 2008 wasn’t the first time fans saw their favorite characters brought to life. The book was also a film before coming to TV in 2006. Telemundo retold the story in 2008, before reviving the franchise with a continuation in 2016.

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Familiar faces

One of the most loveable characters, José Luis Vargas (aka: Jota), is played by the Gustavo’s nephew, Francisco Bolívar. It wasn’t his first time bringing his uncle’s characters to life, though. In the 2010 movie version he played Bayron Santana, Catalina’s hit man brother. Gregorio Pernía, who plays Aurelio Jaramillo (El Titi) on the show, also had a part in the movie as Caballo.

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Musical ties

Since 2008, the show has been known for integrating music into the series. Most of the main characters/pairings have had their own song, while the theme song has changed three times since 2008. Several of the characters have even sang on the show, and at least two of the actors are also recording artists. One, Carolina Gaitan (Catalina Marin Santana), performed a song from the show with original singer Dennis Fernando.

El Final del Paraiso spoílers: Day job

One person involved in the series in particular is very busy. The creator of the franchise is also a politician. Fans often complained on Twitter that the series suffered last year due to his other interests. He’s not the only one in the cast with political ambitions. Gregorio has run for office twice.

El Final del Paraiso spoilers: Changing it up

Fans of No Hay who’ve followed the continuation have noticed a number of details that were changed with the 2016 premiere. This includes the antagonist’s last name, the timeline, as well as a significant event that was the main catalyst for Yésica “La Diabla” Beltrán’s (Kimberly Reyes) hate of Catalina and her family.

She’s a recent Days of Our Lives convert, having grown up on the nighttime shows of the '90s. She’s also an accomplished writer in many fields, including paranormal fiction. Jamie loves the crazy twists that Soap Opera writers come up with, even though she's sometimes yelling at the characters. As a published and accomplished writer, she knows how to get into the minds of the writers and is usually bang on in predicting plot twists before they come to life. When she’s not writing for Daily Soap Dish, Jamie binge watches telenovelas as a way to improve her Spanish. They also fuel her muse, which tends to upset her readers.
