Puff Daddy, otherwise known as Sean Combs, has confirmed that Will Smith and Chris Rock have put their slapping incident at the Oscars firmly behind them.

Will, for his part, had been outraged by the comedian’s joke concerning his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. During the course of the award ceremony, Chris decided to make a joke about Jada being in ‘G.I. Jane,’ in reference to her head being bald.
And as Jada has documented her struggles with alopecia, Will did not take kindly to those comments. As a result, he slapped Chris after which he told him to take ‘my wife’s name out of your fu***ing mouth.’
While this could have escalated to a full-blown hatred, Daddy reassured the fans that all is well now. In a statement, he said: “That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that. It’s all love. They’re brothers.”
Despite what Daddy has said, it is very hard to believe that things have been resolved for the following reasons. First of all, the incident will no doubt have shaken up Chris. After all, he was merely performing his role as a comedian.
Therefore, the last thing he expected was to be attacked. Secondly, if there are going to be no repercussions for Will, then it does set a dangerous precedent over the fact that incidents like this may happen again.
This is especially since sources claim that the pair did not speak to each other alone. A source remarked: “[Daddy] spoke to both [Smith and Rock] separately after it happened which has been confirmed. [The duo though] didn’t speak to each other.”
The reaction on social media was full of criticism. People felt that Daddy’s response was not strong enough, given that Chris had been assaulted. One fan wrote: “When daddy is the voice of reason mediating we have reached rock bottom.”
The sooner this incident is put to bed, then the better it is for everyone. And as reports indicate that Chris will not be pressing charges, hopefully everybody can move on from this. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
