Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie may have to step up to become working royals as the royal family has been struck with a double health crisis. King Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis in February. The news came as a shock, as the UK still mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth, who passed in September 2022.
Beatrice and Eugenie Have Been Quietly Participating in Royal Activities
Her reign lasted 70 years, and the prospect of potentially losing another monarch so soon was almost too much to bear. Although, it is said that the King is doing well with his treatments and is in good spirits.
A week ago, Kate Middleton revealed to the world via video message that she had also been diagnosed with cancer. The news of our young, beautiful Princess Catherine also has cancer sent shockwaves across the globe.
Neither royal has disclosed what type of cancer they have. Due to their illnesses, the monarchy is slimmed down as Charles and Kate undergo their respective treatments and recover.
Prince William is also busy tending to his wife and their children, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte. He has not been readily available to take over royal duties.
That leaves precious few who can step up to the plate. His Majesty’s two nieces, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, could be on the radar to be more present at royal engagements and other duties.
Beatrice and Eugenie are no strangers to health woes. Sarah Ferguson, their mother, was recently diagnosed with skin cancer, and before that, she had breast cancer.
The two Princesses have been participating in royal activities very quietly. Last week, Eugenie helped a cause close to Kate’s heart by reading a book about elephants to young children while promoting Camilla’s late brother, Mark Roland Shand’s elephant conservation charity.
Eugenie Is More Reluctant Than Beatrice To Become A Working Royal
Beatrice is showing support as she participated at an event to commemorate Student Mental Health Week, where she spoke about young people’s mental well-being, a cause near and dear to the Princess of Wales.
The eldest daughter of the Duke of York also participated in causes she cares about, hosting a tea for the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charitable Foundation, which she supports. Beatrice herself has a learning difficulty.
Beatrice is being considered to be elevated to working royal status.
“Both the King and William have seen how well Beatrice has stepped up in recent weeks, and that’s why they’re happy to push her to the front and represent the family in public,”
Said a royal source.
While Beatrice’s role as a working royal may be temporary for now, it could become more permanent.
On the other hand, Eugenie is more reluctant to become a working royal. She knows it will take up her whole life. However, Charles may ask her to contribute, considering the lack of working royals. However, there is no such thing as a part-time working royal.
His Royal Highness has been grasping at straws, trying to devise a solution to his “anorexic monarchy.”
That being said, there is no chance that King Charles will ask Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back into the fold. They are far more interested in using their royal titles for commercial gain than helping the family.
We hope King Charles and Princess Catherine will be well soon. We also hope that the royal family will band together to ensure that everything runs smoothly until they return. Princess Beatrice and Eugenie deserve more leadership roles in the royal family. Please visit us and check out our other articles on the Daily Soap Dish.
