She’s so adorable that we absolutely can’t stand it. Prince William and his daughter Princess Charlotte showed their support to England’s Women’s soccer team  in a video message ahead of their Euro 2022 final against Germany. The team defeated Germany 2-1 in the Uefa Women’s Euros final at Wembley Stadium, in the first major tournament win for any England team since 1966. Here’s what you need to know.

The Lionesses, who have been widely praised for inspiring more girls to play soccer, received a “best of luck” message from William while seven-year-old Princess Charlotte said: “I hope you win.”

In an endearing 10-second video message with his daughter, William said: “We both want to wish the Lionesses the best of luck for tonight. “You’ve done amazingly well in the competition and we are rooting for you all the way.” Charlotte, sat beside him, said: “Good luck, I hope you win. Bye.”

The team also got support from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who thanked the team for creating “a summer of fantastic memories for millions”, British Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer, and England men’s team captain Harry Kane.

Goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly brought a major trophy home for the first time since 1966 Sarina Wiegman’s side started the final brightly and looked to put pressure on Germany from the outset, with two opportunities inside the first ten minutes. However, Germany pushed back in the second half and looked the more dangerous side until substitutions gave England a renewed sense of purpose.

In a message to the Lionesses shared on the Royal Family’s Twitter account, the Queen said: “My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to you all on winning the European Women’s Football Championships. It is a significant achievement for the entire team, including your support staff.  The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise. However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned.”
