Prince William’s decision to reach out to his brother Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle for the Windsor reunion was not an easy thing.
William Reached Out To Harry For The ‘Fab Four’ Reunion At Windsor As It Was The ‘Appropriate Thing To Do’
According to reports, there were conflicting narratives surrounding how the reunion came about. Royal excerpt Neil Sean made it clear that William decided to suggest they do the walk ‘together’ in order to pay their respects for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
And as part of that process, the ‘Fab Four’ were united against all the odds. This was a significant step and boost for King Charles III. It demonstrated a symbol of public unity and hope that the grievances between the Sussexes and the royals could be put to bed.
With that being said, William took a proactive approach. A source confirmed the following: “In the end, [William] elected to [invite them] because it was agreed amongst all of them that this very much the appropriate thing to do.”
Looking back, it was the most appropriate thing to do for the following reasons. First of all, if Harry and Meghan did not attend, it would have come across as a massive sign of disrespect towards the late monarch.
Secondly, it would demonstrate that William does not have the leverage to get his family pulling together in the same direction. This is particularly important since he is next in line to the throne.
Lastly, in any event, there was also a possibility that Harry and Meghan had decided to do the walk by themselves. And by doing that, it could have drawn more negative attention as the public would have seen the family mourning separately.
But through it all William had the thoughts of his grandmother in mind. The following comments confirmed as much: “For all of their differences in the past, many of which still linger, this was what The Queen would have wanted and William knew very well that it was no time to be holding onto grudges or distancing himself from his brother.”
