Prince Harry’s memoir, which has been titled Spare, has officially been given a release date.

This all but confirmed the speculation that Harry was not going to scrap the release of the memoir even following the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. There had been initial hopes that the book could be pulled after having seen the release date being pushed back.
The book was initially expected to come out around November, but now a date has been confirmed at the beginning of next year. According to the New York Times, the date has been set as the following: “After months of frenzied speculation, the book has a publication date: Jan. 10, 2023, according to industry executives.”
The timing naturally raises a few questions: First of all, Reports had indicated that the Duke of Sussex was desperately trying to rewrite parts of the book following Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Therefore, fans may expect to see his feelings and reactions towards the former monarch after having attended the funeral.
Secondly, Tom Bower has previously made it clear that the only currency the Sussexes have is to reference the Royal Family. As such, there is a chance that the book could be quite damning towards them.
His following comments confirmed as much: “There’ll just be more material about how they were snubbed and all the rest of the invective against the royal family. So I think to that extent, the delay will add to the poison.”
The fans on social media felt that this was a bad move by Harry. A certain subset of people were of the view that this would only end badly, as there would be no way back for him and Meghan Markle if the book was scathing. One person wrote: “Hope he’s prepared for the fallout.”
